A good sleep in Glencoe in a tent meant that I was looking forward to this run, the prospect of not finishing in the dark was also encouraging. Ed came hurtling off Aonach Eagach into the car and Pippa took us (too sedately for Ed) to the start of my leg.
It was fresher this evening, still showery, but pleasant for running. I soon got lost in the thousands of paths in the Kinlochewe area, but corrected it and bashed on towards Sgurr Eilde Mor.
On top of this the first shower came and I cursed not wearing my contacts, it kept raining till the descent of Binnein Beag. Why does it seem so far up this little bump?
Due to the wet and walshies I decided on the N ridge of Binnein Mor, from where I had a good view of the summit changeover on An Gearanach. I wondered if Rob was there, if he could see me.
The rest of the ridge was great, excellent running in places, little bits of scrambling in others, the rain stayed off but a cold wind was blowing. Ben Nevis remained firmly in the cloud which scraped the top of the Aonachs.
As I neared the changeover I was well up on schedule, pleased that Rob should complete the Mamores and we would reach halfway before dark. I was too early! No Rob. Shoving on some gear I waited a minute, then Rob appeared climbing up, I dropped down to meet him.
