Late to bed last night but not a bad sleep, all day yesterday festering at Laggan Dam, watching the rain come down, seeing Rob go out at 11 pm into the murk, all this added up to a fast run, given the morning sunshine and better weather what else could I do?
A long tussocky haul brought me into the cloud and onto the moor. No sign of a fence here, thought there might be, far far away I could see my next Munro Carn Dearg. Picking a line as direct as possible, but staying high I found mostly good running. Peat hags in places, but all very dry, some peaty areas provided the best running by far.
Slowly Carn Dearg came near, as I climbed the final slopes I wondered if I'd overdone it, an hour between peaks, but I was knackered. Carn Ban was awkward, had to be climbed not contoured, then I was off again, past my final hill to a slight rise called Carn Sgulain, nothing to linger for here, so soon I was on, then over the final hill and descending fast towards the road end. Memories of a rough descent warned me this would be a slow one, but luckily I picked up an argocat track which led so easily down, 23 minutes to the end, superb.
They may be the “most boring hills in Scotland” but I was ecstatic. As we drove to Dalwhinnie the weather closed in again, raining for the rest of the day.

Meanwhile, Pippa had reappeared with Rob in pleasant weather and then returned to Newtonmore to await Dave's arrival, whilst we repaired to the A9 to await them both.
Pippa picked Dave up then exchanged him for Tony as she passed.
