I had expected that this may be an early morning run but a second night of poor weather meant that time was inevitably lost – I wonder how I will fare if I am out there at night in the rough weather, clouds etc. As it was Steve arrived at 11.10 and by 11.16 I was leaping out of the car and up the boggy track.

By virtue of yesterday's disaster I wanted to get any bad feelings out of my system so in 50 mins 36 secs I was on top of Meall Dearg. The actual ridge was great, a great mass of cloud boiling up on the north side meant that I could be in bright sun or thick cloud within the space of 5 metres.

The schedule between the tops would have been optimistic for anybody but Joss Naylor and took 34 instead of 29. A swift descent saw me back on the road in 1hr 43mins and thanks to Ifor the engine was already running so – straight off and managed to catch the 1.15 ferry with 3 mins to spare.
