The weather improved becoming really beautiful, but I cannot remember how long Ross had to put up with the heavy rain and low cloud. After a long steady climb Mullach an Rathain is all sandstone and really nice to run on, Ross then had to negotiate the narrow path past the pinnacles looking straight down to the road beneath (if he could see the view). Then it all suddenly changes to quarzite for the climb and initial descent northwards, before dropping back into steep sandstone crags, similar to my descent of Alligin.
Ross was not at all happy about this descent route, although I have been up that way and can see nothing wrong with it apart from the inevitable discomfort and balance issues over the quarzite blocks for the first 500 vertical feet or so.
