Ifor arrived at car to find it locked and me asleep in passenger seat – didn't want to get disturbed during night by Dundonnel residents returning from pub/ hotel. Drove with Ifor to start of my run, forest track on southern most point of Destitution Road.
Started 4.43 a.m. in drizzle and light wind. Along track past ruin and contouring with slight climb above Loch a' Bhraoin. Climbed more steadily along stream leading from Loch Toll an Lochan, then up rocky spur to NE ridge and into wind and rain. Followed ridge to top of A' Chailleach – 1.18 (5 mins down).
Carefully followed bearing off top and down ridge to ESE, contouring minor peak and luckily?! arriving at col below Sgurr Breac – up to top in 25 mins. Again on bearing down rocky SE ridge , eventually appearing out of clag just above col where I met Eddie – only spotted him quite low down. Finished leg in 2.01 (7 mins down on schedule due to weather!)
Kept warm on long walk back wearing Eddie's coat and dry helly and hat; glad to be back at van! Last run, only Ben Hope to do.
Went of at 8.30 to pick up Ross – him and Sheila staying in B&B below Loch Glascarnoch. Had toast and coffee with them and a long shower – felt much better. Got Ross organised? and drove off to meet Eddie along the road at Garbat.
