Fran Loots - We've reluctantly agreed to concede to the weather today. Massive shout out to The Real Food Cafe for hospitality on an inhospitable day. The ducks are happy again....
Sue Savege - Sometimes the weather knows we’re tired! Nevis knows how to relax on a rainy day 💤
Fran Loots - It's been a tough few days...Lack of sleep for me became critical when I dipped to 7 hours sleep in 48 hours..but like much of the rest of this journey it has been filled with the most amazing moments that have touched my heart. Big thanks to Alison Thacker who spotted I was down for 3 separate legs in succession as we were short on numbers. She amazingly took two off my plate.
Then, I had a lovely run with Anna Howat Strathearn Harriers up Meall Ghaordaidh via a less conventional route. 'Just like our Monday runs' pipes up Anna on the more gentle descent we chose.(See day 20)
My shout out for additional support saw more of the Strathearn Harriers step up along with folk from my home village Comrie Perthshire then, the wonderful Emily Greaves stepped in to support me on a night leg over the peat hags, where I was literally crawling at points up to Sgiath Chuil then descending into the mist after a faint promise of a sunrise. Next we were ascending in zero visibility to Meall Glas before rejoining our route up from to Glen Lochay. Emily Greaves then undertook a cycle that would extinguish many a person. Truly phenomenal. A special night on a special journey. (See day 21)
Thanks to all the other local folk who stepped in at this critical point at short notice: Ruth Clark Clare Martin Clare McClelland Louise Fridge Caroline Harries Cathy Tilbrook Astrid Walker Alison Ritchie Rachel Gallagher.
I have started to claw back some of the lost sleep - needed to deal with the ongoing rearranging due to mother nature!
As the end gets closer and we have the final legs and days to do we want to give a shout out to our cyclists who have been key links in the chain. Louise Longhurst Forth Valley Orienteers (FVO Members and Friends)has put in a huge number of hours on the road day and night, Wendy Howell Strathearn Harriers did some great stints in the north and brought in more support whilst in her local area with Cherry Cormack. Also up North- Dagmar Borrowman Inverness Orienteering Club Highland Hill Runners put in a big stint through the night in addition to all her romps around the hills...
