Lovely walk into the changeover at the back of Liathach, JUST in time for the changeover with Alwyn. Straight up the track and then contouring round, clambouring through the amazing torridonian sandstone edges and then into the broad gully going up the shoulder between the summit and the 'horns'. Shame to waste such a fantastic looking mountain by this straight up and straight down – anyway leaves it for another time. The route was very steep, rather damp and quite rocky. Main find was alpine meadow rue which I'd not seen before – much smaller than expected.
Up to the summit past a few well wrapped walkers – me in vest and shorts. “Is it any easier the way you've come?” asked an elderly couple … what could I say!
Hop and jump down the steep slope, then whizzing across nice damp peatland and up the glen path a bit to change with Ian. Looked rather dramatic due to nosebleed all down face and shorts, managed to spot great sundew on the way down as well as – another new one.
