ALTERNATIVE PLANS (Note times are included here as elseswhere for approximate relative timing. Clearly if either plan B or C are being used, the actual times will be different.)
Depending upon the time taken to this point there are three alternative plans: plan A is the most likely, but plan B should be used if we are late enough in the morning to catch the Mull ferry without having to wait for it to start up. Plan C is for use if we are too far ahead of schedule to be likely to make the ferries without waiting:
PLAN A ( and C to start with): use if 4E ends before 5.40 Note: the 5.40 time limit is dependant upon having arranged that the early ferry will sail (Neil should be around to help with this). If this has not been done, the time limit will be 6.30.

Ross then drives to mothership on A82.
PLAN C: USE if 5B ends before 5.10 NOTE: If using plan C when close to cut-off time, it is essential that we do not lose more than an hour on schedule. If we fail to make the 16.15 Corran Ferry, we could becaught on Mull overnight. This means that in the very unlikely event that plan C is in operation and things have slowed down for some reason to make the achievement of that ferry unlikely, the leg 8C runner will need to descend from Bidean to Achnambeithach, where intensive hitching should get him up to the car, and they can zoom off to Mull. Someone would be needed to go up to the col and fetch the waiting 8B runner back to the road for a start at the roadside. (Clearly some improvisation would be needed, but this is not detailed here as the situation is very unlikely.)
